Nicole Kidman visits children’s hospital

Nicole Kidman visited a children’s hospital ward with her son and daughter shortly after they arrived in Sydney for her widely anticipated wedding to Keith Urban.

They spent about two hours visiting the oncology, hematology and neurology wards, chatting with patients and officials.

Family Wins Wrongful Death Lawsuit

A Hinds County jury has awarded a local family more than four million dollars in a wrongful death suit. 66 year old Ersel Allen died in 2001 after she was diagnosed with cancer and sent to Hospice Ministries, Inc. In Ridgeland. Her family was told she only had six months to live. She died in five weeks, but an autopsy showed she did not have cancer. One of her doctors is serving time in Louisiana for molesting a 13 year old boy…..

“She was not terminal. Certified to be terminal, placed in a hospice, overdosed on painkillers. It’s just as clear as day.”

Price dispute blocks costly cancer drug in Canada

One of the world’s most costly cancer drugs will not be marketed in Canada because of a price dispute between the drug’s distributor and the federal government.

The colorectal cancer drug Erbitux, which was approved by Health Canada nine months ago, will not be launched after distributor Bristol Myers Squibb Canada could not agree on a price with the federal Patented Medicine Prices Review Board., The Globe and Mail reports.

Judy Rankin has cancer

Judy Rankin, a Hall of Famer and golf analyst with ABC Sports, has breast cancer and is undergoing treatment that will keep her out of work for an indefinite period.

“I’m not sick,” she said. “This cancer I have up to now is not an invasive cancer, but it would be at some point down the road. I think I have the best of a bad thing.”

FDA Approves Cervical Cancer Vaccine

June 8, 2006 — Women for the first time have a vaccine to protect themselves against cervical cancer.

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday approved use of the vaccine, Gardasil, for use in girls and women ages nine to 26. It works by preventing infection by four strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV, the most prevalent sexually transmitted disease.

Report: Cancer rates high for WTC workers

NEW YORK, NY, United States (UPI) — Nearly 300 rescue and recovery workers from the World Trade Center site have been diagnosed with cancer since Sept. 11, 2001, the New York Post reports.

Blood-cell cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and Hodgkin`s disease are being reported at a much higher rate than normal from World Trade Center rescue workers, attorney David Worby told the Post.

Andrew fights back to cycle a mountain

DESPITE going through three years of hell, cancer survivor Andrew Pallister is fighting back.

Andrew, 51, of Pardshaw, plans to ride a bike 11,000 metres up a French Mountain for a cancer charity.

He has been diagnosed with cancer twice and his wife has had breast cancer, but Andrew will not give up.

Woodbridge mayor ill, will carry on

WOODBRIDGE — Mayor Frank G. Pelzman said yesterday that he has been diagnosed with cancer and will begin immediate treatment.

The 71-year-old mayor said the illness will not deter him from his daily duties.

“I feel fine, the same as I felt two months ago,” Pelzman said in a written statement. “The municipal business of Woodbridge Township will continue as before.”

Singer Eartha Kitt has cancer

SINGING legend Eartha Kitt has revealed she has had colon cancer.
The 79-year-old said she was now fine after surgery in April, when the disease was discovered, according to the New York Post.

She found out she had the disease after going to the doctor because her hand was hurting from carpal tunnel syndrome.
